Substitutions in a Greenbox

When a produce item is unavailable, Greenbox makes a substitution of equal or
greater value. Availability is decided the evening before the run, when the
packing list is frozen against what actually arrived from the growers, so a
substitution is a packing decision rather than a delivery-day surprise.

Subscribers can ban up to five items they never want substituted in, from the
preferences page. A banned item is skipped by the substitution engine
entirely; if the only equal-value replacement is on the ban list, the box goes
out with a credit for the difference instead.

Every substitution is listed on the packing slip in the box and on the order
page, with the item it replaced. A subscriber who is unhappy with a
substitution can report it within seven days and the value of the substituted
item is credited to the account.

Substitutions do not apply to add-ons. An add-on that is unavailable is
refunded rather than replaced, because add-ons are bought by name and a
subscriber who ordered sourdough did not order a different loaf.
